Video: What kind of walk is this of lesbians, gays and bisexuals in Doon, know why they are proud of themselves

LGBT group took out a pride walk in the capital Doon, they need to be seen as sexual minority and not as different

Amit Bhatt, Dehradun: The term LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) is no longer new for the world and India. Especially when on 06 September 2018, the Supreme Court has recognized them as entitled to equal citizenship and full constitutional protection in the case ‘Navtej Singh Johar vs India’. However, in the state of Uttarakhand and its cities like Dehradun, people of the LGBT group are still looked at differently. Despite this, people of this group feel proud of being a sexual minority and to express this, they organize pride walks in major cities across the country. In Dehradun too, this Sunday, the LGBT group organized the Dehradun Pride Walk 2025 under the name ‘The Voice of Warriors’.

The pride walk was taken out from Parade Ground, Dehradun. During this, the LGBT group demanded equality towards themselves. They took pride in the form they are and the form in which nature has chosen them. Anyway, the gender attraction of a person is not in his hands. It is not a disorder, but depends on the hormones that determine their body and their choice. This is especially important for those people who have been made male or female by nature, but they generally become same-sex (lesbian/gay) or bisexual (attraction to both sexes) instead of being heterosexual (opposite-sex attraction) like the majority of the population.

It does not depend on their wish, but nature has decided all this for them. In this context, it would be more appropriate to call them gender minority rather than LGBT. Most LGBT are educated and they also understand this. They just want the support and sympathy of the gender majority population. They want to be accepted in the form in which nature has made them. Even though the Supreme Court has not recognized the marriage of the people of this community with each other, it has given them equal citizenship and constitutional protection.

There were some such scenes of the LGBT Pride Walk in Dehradun.

To get this right in the society, not legally but in a natural way, the LGBT community organizes a pride walk every year. This time too, the LGBT community organized a pride walk in Doon with full enthusiasm and advocated for changing the attitude of the society towards them. People from the LGBT community from Dehradun as well as various parts of the country gathered in this walk. During this, everyone happily accepted their existence and sought the support of the citizens as well as the government.
